Craft cocktails have been a thing for a while now. But I’m no bartender and often want something a little more simple. Something that just has a few ingredients nothing terribly fussy mostly because I simply don’t have the time to keep a laundry list of ingredients in my house.
- Lillet Blanc
- Lillet Rouge
- Lillet Rosé
- Tonic water
- Soda water
- 7-Up, Ginger Ale or Sprite (if you like things on the sweeter side)
If I don’t have fresh versions of these and I always keep my freezer stocked with frozen ice cubes of the juice as all of the spirits are best served over ice. You don’t get the freshness, but they work in a pinch. And I keep packets of True Lemon, Orange, Lime and Grapefruit (which you can purchase on Amazon).
Both Campari and the Lillets are fantastic simply served over ice with orange. Sometimes I like to top them with some soda water for a little fizz and to lighten the drink.
Lillets with tonic and lime over ice is a lighter version of the classic gin & tonic.
I love a classic Pimm’s Cup, though I don’t always have the apples and cucumber toppers when making. So I create a pared down version by filling a tall glass with ice, mint which I muddle slightly, Pimm’s, oranges and lemons.
